Scenes from Jacob's time as a student at the University of Notre Dame following his retirement from the U.S. Navy in 2018. He graduated the school's MBA program in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns and remained near campus for over half a year, painting daily on campus. These painting and two others currently hang in the university's Stayer Center.

World Travels
Jacob Mazurek has moved 50 times, living in 5 countries and 9 U.S. states in less than 50 years. During that time, he has visited all 48 states in the continental United States, as well as dozens of countries on 4 continents. Along the way he took countless photos, the best of which he continuously strives to recreate in intricate detail and dramatic coloring. These are just some of his many paintings.

Navy Paintings
The artist served in the U.S. Navy from 1995 to 2018, serving in San Diego, CA; Ingleside, TX; Sasebo, Japan; Newquay, UK; Seal Beach, CA; Manama, Bahrain; and Mechanicsburg, PA. He started painting 6 years into his career, and continued every chance that he got. Thus, he painted in unusual places, like on a New Zealand command ship off the coast of New Zealand; and at the Bahraini Contemporary Artists Association; and at coffee shops in places as varied as Canada, Thailand, South Korea, Dubai, etc. As always, he painted what he saw as best as his skills at the time could handle.

Portraits and Figures
The artist has leaned into figure painting over the years, striving to gain ever increasing levels of detail with an economy of brush strokes. He especially excels at clothing, seeking to capture the folds of cloth and the differences in texture and pattern. Furthermore, he tries to capture their personalities and expressions, while downplaying bits for which they would be less proud. This attention to detail has led to several commissions over the years, from patrons whom he has met through his daily interactions.

Contemporary Paintings
The artist did not start as a photorealism artist. He first style was hard-edge, i.e. solid color fields abutted against each other with hard, unblended edges. Later, he joined the Bahrain Contemporary Artists Association in Manama, Bahrain because that was the only place that he could go to paint off base without a "liberty buddy". There, the Bahraini artists encouraged him to avoid realism to focus on looser styles. Later still, he embraced an additional Jackson Pollock-like expressionist style of splattering paint to bring out the sheer texture of the materials. To this day, when he wants to just finish something, it is inevitably a hard-edge piece, while if he wants to decorate a wall quickly, he makes splatter paintings. These styles are available to order, in both size and color choices, at much lower prices than his photorealistic works.
